Slammer 2024 – Preview

Slammer 2024 – Preview
12/10/2024
Rebellion, Manchester
By Oli Gonzalez

Celebrating its fifth iteration this year, Slammer has established itself as a permanent fixture in Manchester’s fiercely stacked underground scene. Having moved to a new autumn slot nice and close to Halloween, the line-ups are always bursting at the seams with talent from the local area and some wildcards from further afield! Who could forget Waterlines’ blistering headline set last summer? The carnage caused by Repulsive Vision in 2022? Or the emotional last ever show for much loved Manchester act Amethyst in 2019?!

Housed at Rebellion this year, what can you expect from this year’s card?

If face melting old-school Death Metal is your thing, Liverpool’s Exhumation will certainly have you satiated! There’ll be riffs a plenty with both Bad Earth and Syncolima propping up the middle of the card. Netherhall will provide a more refined and polished Progressive Metal edge, whilst the ever-popular-in-these- parts Karma’s Puppet add more star power. Headlining the party are the much beloved Footprints In The Custard, who are always guaranteed to deliver belly-aching levels of fun and entertainment – whether that comes in the form of inflatable unicorns, Borat style mankinis, or worse!

Then of course this preview could not be complete without a special mention to the host band 4GEN7, as well as the bands front man Rik, for whom none of this would be possible without.

This is only a small substrata of the entertainment on offer as no less than 14 acts will take to the stage across the full day!

At the meager sum of 15 British pounds, the value for money is not even open for debate! Being situated literally right next to Deansgate train station and across the road from Deansgate-Castlefield tram station, accessibility couldn’t be easier!

So, whatever you’re doing this October, strongly consider making Slammer part of those plans!
