EMQ’s with TY MORN
Hi Everyone. Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Multi-National Metal Project Ty Morn, who, I think have released one of the best albums of 2019 so far. Huge thanks to Aron Biale for taking part!
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
I’m Aron Biale from the band/project Ty Morn, created by myself last year with the help of several musicians from around the globe. I play bass and guitar.
How did you come up with your band name?
I split my time between the UK and Brittany where I have a studio. ‘Ty’ is a Breton word roughly translating as ‘where man dwells’ and ‘Morn’ is from the Old English for ’morning’. Just liked the sound of it together…!
What country are you from and what is the metal scene like there?
I’m from (arguably) the home of classic rock and metal, the UK, good ol’ Blighty!
What is your latest release (Album, EP, Single, Video)
Our debut album “Istor” was released in March 2019 on digital and CD formats. A ltd. edition vinyl release is planned.
Who have been your greatest influences?
I grew up around the birth of the NWOBHM, Queen, Meatloaf, Bay Area Thrash, the LA Scene, it kind of consumed my life when I was a small kid.
What first got you into music?
“Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
I’d do a metal album with Jorn Lande and write a melodic rock album with Jim Peterik.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Hellfest (not far from my studio, haha)!
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
A Chilean Rose tarantula.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
I’m new on the scene, so a heartfelt thanks to everyone who has championed and supported this band so far. If you guys want it, I’ll keep writing and playing and flying the flag for metal!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
When the creative spark hits and a song says ‘write me! I hate being limited in what I can physically play. Glad there are those around me who are more talented players.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
To have more integrity, and less focus on passing trends.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
“Bat Out of Hell” by Meatloaf
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Vinyl for warmth, downloads for ease. Cassettes, no ta.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
Ty Morn is yet to perform live. We’ll get a touring band together asap.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Running a smallholding. Sheep and stuff…!
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Richard Harris, Steve Perry, Jimi Hendrix, Freddie Mercury and Sigourney Weaver
What’s next for the band?
Album two is written and studio sessions have begun and then reaching out for a deal or crowd funding for its release end of 2019.
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
Bandcamp, Facebook, Youtube, Spotify, Deezer, iTunes.
Jaffa Cakes? Are they a cake or a biscuit?
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Thanks Evermetallers for asking me to do this. It’s been a hoot!
