EMQ’s with I AM THE LAW.

Hi Everyone. Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Nashville, Tennessee, Groove Metal band I Am The Law. Huge thanks to them for taking part!

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

I’m Brandon, I’m the guitarist and second vocalist, I Am The Law is a southern/groove metal band out of Nashville, TN We’ve been a band for about 4ish years.

How did you come up with your band name?

The name came from the movie Judge Dredd, I thought it sounded pretty badass plus Anthrax had a song about it. We played around with other names but this was the one we all agreed on and liked.

What country are you from and what is the metal scene like there?

From Nashville, TN In the Ole US of A, the metal scene is thriving, can be a bit much at times but great there’s so many bands to check out and play shows with.

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single or Video)

“Dance Of The Southern Witch”, it’s a two song Micro EP coming out on Digital and Cassette May 31st

Who have been your greatest influences?

MATSOD, He Is Legend, The Showdown, Every Time I Die

What first got you into music?

My mom took me to see Def Leppard at our fair and I got a Metallica Black album cassette, that was the start then she had a boyfriend named Steve Austin (no joke) who played guitar and he was the shit, so I strived to surpass him and did lol.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

Probably The Showdown, I’ve have been a fan of theirs since I got a burned disc at a music festival of them before they got signed.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

All of them festivals are the best I would love to spend my summers just playing festivals, plus you get to see all the other rad bands on the bill.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

Not sure on that one! We have some stories but they would have to be censored lol.

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

Have a good time, come hang out with us, let’s rage and kick back.

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Elvis man, think about Elvis in a metal band eh eh eh? Come on lol

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

I enjoy playing shows, I hate stairs in venues especially if it’s three flights of stairs.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

Venues need to work better for bands and promoters need to actually promote.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

He Is legend – “I Am Hollywood”

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

I can go anyway on that, digital is easier so I’d say that but I feel like I’ve earned it, from the days of having CD cases full of burned CD’s that you carried around.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

The one with Super Joint it was a great line up and a good turnout.

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

I try not to think about that hahaha.

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

Myself and five pizzas

What’s next for the band?

We’re releasing 2 micro EP’s and considering doing a full length for next year.

Jaffa Cakes? Are they a cake or a biscuit?

I honestly had to look those up, so there is a biscuit form that I’d imagine is good with coffee, but then there’s an actual cake version, but in the USA we would consider it a pie, so my answer is Piebiscake???

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

“Dance Of The Southern Witch” out May 31st on Digital and Cassette
