Hi Everyone. Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Albany, GA based Hard Rock band Days To Come! Huge thanks to them for taking part

What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

Justin:- My name is Justin Goodson and I’m the vocalist for Days To Come. We’ve been around for five years and have gone through a few line-up changes, but feel confident in the team we currently have.

How did you come up with your band name?

Justin: – Years ago, Brandon and I were frustrated that we had all of the pieces to put a band together except for a drummer. I was at my day job one day and just thought that everything would work out and it would be better in the “days to come”.

What country are you from and what is the metal scene like there?

Jalen: – I’m from the U.S.A. The metal scene isn’t as prominent in Georgia (state) but there are those bright spots where it thrives.

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single or Video)

Brandon: – Our latest single is ‘Wolves’ (June 2019). We’re pumped to tour and promote it. We also released a lyric video for it with footage from different shows we’ve played in 2019.

Who have been your greatest influences?

Justin: – Alter Bridge is a huge influence for me. I also grew up listening to 80’s pop and a lot of that influenced me melodically and vocally.

What first got you into music?

Jalen: – Hearing ‘We Are The Champions’ when I was three years old. Yup!

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

Brandon: – I would want to do something with Plini. Mainly just to watch him play for free. What a talent.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

Jalen: – I’d love to play Rock Am Ring one day! So many of my childhood influences play there and it’s one of those few occasions where the rock community comes together and puts all differences aside to enjoy great music.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

Justin: – I don’t think any gift is “weird”. They all come from a place of love and I appreciate anytime someone goes out of their way to let me know our music has made an impact on their life.

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

Justin: – We’re so thankful for your support along this journey. We absolutely love meeting you and spending time with you and can’t wait for you to hear what we’re working on.

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Brandon: – Chris Cornell. Just so I could wait another 10 years and hear his smooth olden blues voice.

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

Jalen: – I enjoy the shows and meeting new people the most for sure! There’s nothing I’d say I “hate”, but I really am not of fan of breaking down my drum kit.

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

Justin: – It seems like a lot of information isn’t shared with newer, up and coming artists. They do something because they think that’s the “right” thing to do in the situation and, often times, make a poor choice. It would be great if more information was more available to help grow a young artist’s career.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

Brandon: – Tesseract – “Altered State”. To this day, I’m still learning different things from that album. Plus hearing Ashe O’hara is just a dream.

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

Jalen: – I prefer CD’s myself but with the way the world is going now, downloads are easier and more convenient.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

Justin: – A few years back, we had the opportunity to support Art Of Anarchy at the Masquerade in Atlanta, GA. Scott Stapp was their vocalist at the time and it was really cool to meet those guys.

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

Brandon: – Saving a lot more money and not having a broken back at 23.

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

Jalen: – Layne Staley, Abraham Lincoln, Ian McKellen, Gal Gadot, and Slash.

What’s next for the band?

Justin: – We’re excited to promote our new single ‘Wolves’ (June 2019) and tour! We’re playing a short tour in June with our friends in Ventruss and 7 Stone Riot and we’re hitting the road again in July to tour up to Rock Fest in Wisconsin.

What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

Justin: – We’re on all of the social sites – @daystocomemusic. We’re also on all of the major online outlets – iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, Google Play, etc.

Jaffa Cakes? Are they a cake or a biscuit?

Brandon: – Imagine not calling jaffa cake a cake. What are we? Neanderthals?

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

Justin – Feel free to connect with us on your favourite social media platform – @daystocomemusic and listen to our new single ‘Wolves’!
