EMQ’s with WICKED GARDEN

Hi Everyone. Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Las Vegas based Alternative/Grunge Rock band Wicked Garden! Huge thanks to vocalist/guitarist Dominick Muzio for taking part!
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Dominick Muzio; lead singer and guitarist! The band was formed as a 90’s cover band back in 2011 by guitarist Shawn Trojahn. We played covers for years and the decided to start writing our own songs.
How did you come up with your band name?
Well, since we played mostly 90’s grunge and alternative, it was a fitting name for the times we were representing.
What country are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
We are from Las Vegas, Nevada in the United States. The scene kind of depends where in the country you are. In Las Vegas, there’s a lot of metal, but there’s also punk as well. We kind of fit somewhere in the middle!
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single or Video)
Our CD is called “Post Dystopian Leisure Music” on Vanity Music Group/Shock Records
Who have been your greatest influences?
Me personally – Jerry Cantrell, Dave Grohl, Kurt Cobain, Johnette Napolitano
What first got you into music?
My dad was a musician; I grew up around music being played all the time.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
I would love to write a song with Jerry Cantrell, or just jam with Dave Grohl. That would the ultimate thing for me.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Oh man, Glastonbury or Rokslide…or any other European festival. Those fans are insane!
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
This is going back a long time ago, but I once had a girl send me hand drawn pictures of my band, and they were ok. But then the last one was me and her getting married. That creeped me out!
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Please share the music! Tell your friends, post it on social media and annoy your neighbours!
If you could bring one Metal/Rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
I would bring back Cobain, just so I could hear what he would come up with today, which I’m sure would be brilliant.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I enjoy the freedom to express myself in ways that some people will never be able to. It helps me deal with things. I don’t hate much of it, but the business side of it is shitty. Too much backstabbing!
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
I hate to say it, but bring back MTV and find ways to encourage people to buy music, not just stream it.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
“The Color And The Shape” – Foo Fighters. Brilliant record and not a bad song on it!
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Vinyl! Hands down! There’s something magical about the whole format!
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
I guess that’s relative to a situation. If you’re talking about crowd size, I’ve done a couple festivals in front of 10,000 plus. I’ve also done shows where I feel the band played amazingly and there were 20 people there.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I can’t imagine doing anything else to be honest.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Tough one, cause part of me wants people whose brain I can pick, and the other wants people I’d find fun to be around. So I’d say, Dave Grohl, Douglas Adams (RIP), Jerry Cantrell, Steven Tyler and Butch Vig.
What’s next for the band?
Promoting the record and touring this fall. Plus shooting a new video soon!
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
https://www.facebook.com/wickedgardenvegas/
https://wickedgardenlv.com/
https://twitter.com/WickedGardenLV
Jaffa Cakes? Are they a cake or a biscuit?
If they are topped with fruit they are a biscuit. If with chocolate then cake!
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
We really appreciate your time and thank you for helping us promote our record! Please buy a copy and tell your friends!!
