EMQ’s with ENIO NICOLINI AND THE OTRON
Hi Everyone. Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Italian Metal band Enio Nicolini And The Otron! Huge thanks to Enio Nicolini for taking part!
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
We are “Enio Nicolini And The Otron”; this is Enio Nicolini’s project, who is also bass player in The Black and Unreal Terror. The project is done with bass, drums, vocals and electronic treatments (Cybermetal) and deals with a sci-fi theme in a futuristic world.
How did you come up with your band name?
OTRON is a name that means “multiple thinking minds” ready to defend space for the domination of algorithms.
What country are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
We are from Italy; the Metal scene is very active
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single or Video)
My latest Album from “Enio Nicolini And The Otron” is “CYBERSTORM” released on 5th April 2019 via Buil2Kill Records.
Who have been your greatest influences?
The hard and Heavy music of the 70’s and 80’s years has influenced me strongly, and when I was young Jimi Hendrix was my favourite, his music has positively amazed me!
What first got you into music?
In the 70’s I played with a cover band manipulating the songs of Grand Funk Railroad.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
It would be my honour if I could collaborate with the great Dave Lombardo.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Hellfest and Wacken! They are very important festivals that give musicians the opportunity to play in presence of some 40000 fans and more.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
It was my portrait hand drawn with a pencil by a fan who visited me at home.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
“I love you and I always need your support”.
If you could bring one Metal/Rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
It would be Jimi Hendrix.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
Music gives me the possibility to express my emotions; I hate the business that is around doing music.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
If I could I get the music industry give more attention and more chance to be creative in music.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
My all-time favourite album is: “DEFENDERS OF THE FAITH” by Judas Priest.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Best is Vinyl because it gives a realistic sound.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
Metal Magic Festival in Denmark in 2013!
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I would be an actor or writer.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Geezer Butler, Geddy Lee, Dave Lombardo, Nicko McBrain and Brian May.
What’s next for the band?
We are working on another album and many live concerts.
