EMQ’s with SHARONE
Hi Everyone. Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Denver, Colorado Dark Rock Artist Sharone! Huge thanks to her for taking part!
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
My name is Sharone, I am a dark rock singer and piano player from Denver, CO. I started playing shows as a solo artist back in 2014, and put together my rock ensemble in 2016.
How did you come up with your band name?
I never really thought about a “project name” when I started playing shows. I just introduced myself by my name, and it worked.
What country are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
I live in the United States. Certain parts of the country have really wonderful rock scenes with an abundance of bands, as well as performance venues. Other parts are more geared towards different styles of music.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single or Video)
‘Cold’, the single from my new album “Reflection”!
Who have been your greatest influences?
Evanescence, Deftones, Meg Myers, Black Sabbath, and Paramore!
What first got you into music?
I started playing the piano when I was about six years old and completely fell in love with it.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
I’d love to collaborate with Meg Myers. She blends so many different styles together so flawlessly.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
If I could play Ozzfest and open for Ozzy Osbourne I could probably die the next day and be fine.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
A necklace with a vial of blood!
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Follow your passion to the fullest extent.
If you could bring one Metal/Rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I love being on stage more than anything. That’s when I’m reminded that all of the hard work I put in is worth it. I don’t love some of the type of attention I get from certain men simply because I’m a woman in music. I know men in bands don’t receive comments like some of the one’s I’ve gotten. I hope this changes one day.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
I would wish for an equal platform and treatment for men and for women.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Either “Led Zeppelin IV” or “Purple Rain”
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
CD’s! I love having a physical piece of merchandise along with the music. CD cases will often have photographs, credits, lyrics, maybe even fold out posters. I’m not a big fan of downloads because they take away from the artist. I know that when I buy a CD directly from an artist, that money is going right back into their art.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
May 24th of this year opening for Stitched Up Heart.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Trying to figure out what I need to do to become a musician.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
This is a fantasy dinner party, right? They don’t have to be alive, do they? I’d invite David Bowie, Amy Winehouse, Prince, Tom Petty, and Freddie Mercury.
What’s next for you?
I’m gearing up to release my new album “Reflection” on December 7th. The next single from the album, ‘Turn Back Time’, will be released on October 25th (Out Now). In the meantime, I’m working with my team on taking my live shows to a whole new level.
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
Follow me on:
Jaffa Cakes? Are they a cake or a biscuit?
They’re called Jaffa Cakes, aren’t they?
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
