EMQ’s With AMORIELLO
Hi everyone! Welcome to our ‘New EP Release Day’ EMQ’s with Thomas Amoriello of Traditional Heavy Metal Project Amoriello. Huge thanks to Thomas for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Thomas Amoriello here! I started this project on January 1st 2017 with a vision of a debut LP that would feature talented musicians that I admired playing songs that I envisioned. I started working on and arranging riffs and progressions into songs in a deliberate way. I also worked on lyrics from a variety of topics and themes that I wanted to explore and on December 7, 2018 the debut LP was released on vinyl on the H42 Records label of Hamburg, Germany.
How did you come up with your band name?
Well, I had a few in mind that are too silly to write here but I wanted the listener to know where all of this was coming from!
What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
I currently reside in Lambertville, New Jersey of the United States in a historical town of the Revolutionary days about 10 miles from where George Washington crossed the Delaware. It is an artistic town but, from a musical point of view, lots of folk singer songwriters and jam bands mixed with lots of tribute acts. As a devoted fan of hard rock and heavy metal I occasionally travel within an hour to shows at the Sellersville Theater (Sellersville, PA), The Starland Ballroom (Sayreville, NJ) and Dingbatz (Clifton, NJ).
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
“Dear Dark” is my latest release and is a five track EP that arrives this Friday the 13th on Ice Fall Records on cassette tape only. This is traditional heavy metal for fans of classic Judas Priest, early Queensryche, King Diamond, Savatage, Helloween, Sanctuary, and Crimson Glory featuring vocals by Brazilian metal legend Carlos Zema as well as special guest musicians who are current and/or former recording and touring artists with Megadeth, King Diamond, TNT, Yngwie Malmsteen, Shrapnel Records, Metal Blade Records and more. The tracks include ‘Dear Dark’, ‘This Burning Evil’, ‘Thirty Four Strings of Fury’, ‘Magic Wand (Abracadabra)’ and ‘Milan’s Dream’. Here is the first single:

Who have been your greatest influences?
Easily the 80’s era of Black Sabbath or non-Ozzy records! That may sound sacrilegious but I am being honest. I also love the first four Ozzy solo recordings, ALL of the Yngwie Malmsteen recordings and Ronnie James Dio and his various line-ups. I also like Goth influenced groups such as Sisters of Mercy and Depeche Mode. I mean I have many other non-hard rock influences as well but that would be too long to mention.
What first got you into music?
I was a Beatles fan in the first grade but I must admit that the heyday of MTV, especially the Headbanger’s Ball. Also was a big fan of WYSP in Philadelphia which had a Metal Shop radio show which I enjoyed.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
That is a tough question. I would like to work with Jorn Lande, Udo D., Rob Halford, and Ripper Owens. Besides these mentioned, I would LOVE to be in a band so if there ever any opening slots in an already established group looking for a 47 year old guitarist and song collaborator then look me up!!! Also I can work remotely on your projects if you live in a different city, state, country or continent or galaxy. You can check my stuff out here:

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Wacken Open Air!!! That is the World Cup of Metal!!!
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Thank you for the support and digging the tunes. I really enjoyed creating and obsessing over them so I hope that you feel something!
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
I love all of them but collect Vinyl and CD’s mostly. Recently I have been dusting off my old cassettes that survived my youth and picked up a few new ones.
What’s next for the band?
Currently working on a new track or two that may be a 7 inch release in 2021 with some new and old players that are fantastic!
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
Facebook and my website:
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Thank you Rick Tilley and the Ever Metal team for your dedication to new artists! This is much appreciated and keep up the great work!!!
