EMQ’s with MIND TERRORIST
Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Larissa, Greece based Modern Metal/Metalcore band Mind Terrorist. Huge thanks to them for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
We are Mind Terrorist; we play modern metal with influences of metalcore and crossover music and we were formed in 2012. We have released three full length albums, the fourth one is expected to be out in May 2020. We have played numerous gigs around the world. At the moment we are focusing on promoting our upcoming release “Spiritual Revolution”.
How did you come up with your band name?
Well, we wanted that our band name reflects our lyrics direction. In that sense, Mind Terrorist is our statement in an era of lies, distorted realities and moral decay. It’s a statement of freedom of thought.
What country are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
We come from Greece, however during the last couple of years the band members live in three different countries. The metal scene is quite strong in Greece, we are very well known of our underground black metal scene, however after the 90’s we started to produce really good power and thrash metal. Nowadays, the scene is getting even stronger, with many bands touring around the world and releasing good stuff.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single or Video)
As mentioned above, we are now waiting for our new album to be released. It contains 9 tracks, mixing and mastering were done in Greece, USA, Netherlands and Germany. It will be out from OPOS Records, in two different CD editions.
Who have been your greatest influences?
We are influenced from various artists and bands all over the metal spectrum, to name few of them: In Flames, Pantera, Slayer, Machine Head, Sepultura, As I Lay Dying and more.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
My personal wish goes for In Flames.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
It was a CD of a fan’s band, but when I opened it at home the disc was missing, in the CD case there was a condom…No comments…
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Stay heavy. Metal music is our remedy against the sick times we are in.
If you could bring one Metal/Rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
It’s not really about a star, I would bring Ingo from Helloween. I am currently listening to “Keeper I”, that’s why I remembered of him.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I enjoy the moment when I receive the physical copy of our album in my hands. It is a deep feeling that it’s hard to describe. All the effort, numerous hours of preparation, recordings, writing music and lyrics, captured in a moment. On the other hand, it’s not something that I hate, let’s say it better that I dislike, it’s the recordings process that from a point and on might take a lot of energy and time and require patience that I hardly have 😊
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Censorship. Music is freedom of thought and speech, it is ridiculous that bands are censored because of religious, political or other reasons.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Iron Maiden – “Somewhere In Time”
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
I would say that my preference goes for CD, probably because I was raised during the CD times. Although I need to admit that Vinyl is getting lately my attention a lot more than before.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
It was a gig we played in Rome, Italy. Best performed one and with great feedback.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
I would devote 100% of my time to graphic designing.
What’s next for the band?
Promotion of our new album and as soon as we get out of this Corona pandemic, gigs.
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
Our webpage www.mindterrorist.org.
Apart from that, we are active on Facebook, Spotify, YouTube, Instagram and Telegram.
Jaffa Cakes! Are they a cake or a biscuit?
They are biscuit sized cakes 😊
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Thank you for this interview and greetings to your readers!
