Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with São Paulo, Brazil based Thunder Metal band Guardian Of Lightning. Huge thanks to bassist Iron King for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
My name is Iron King and I play the lead bass, The band started with me in 2017 when I started to make some songs with the bass and invited my father and a brother friend to rehearsal. The result was borne of a new genre calleted Thunder Metal!
How did you come up with your band name?
The name of the band actually came from a piece of art I drew and called it of Guardian of Lightning that is the band symbol. (See image at top of interview)
What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
I am from Brazil and I live in a small town called Guariba that is in the countryside of the state of São Paulo! Unfortunately, the Metal/Rock scene in this region is not big, but there are survivors like us who love Metal, who never let the spirit of Rock die.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
We released, by Eclipse Records, a single and video called ‘Cosmos Tree’ but we also have two more singles and one more video before the whole album is released on July 17th, 2020!

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
There’s a lot that I would like to collaborate with but first would be with Ozzy. Can you imagine a song with the Ozzy voice and my lead bass I think it could be an amazing song!
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Man, I would like to play in all festivals around the world but first Hellfest or Wacken
because the energy of those places has everything to do with the band.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
A native amazon headdress that I put on a bull skull and it appears in the ‘Cosmos Tree’ video.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Follow your inner voice, play with the soul and be true.
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
If I had this power, I would like to bring back from the dead all Rock stars to make a Great festival with them!
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I don´t hate nothing about being a musician. I love all, to record to shooting videos to write a song and to play live but the most is to make a song!
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
More festivals around the world with new bands to be discovered.

I think all are important but nowadays it is the downloads.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
It was our first show and in honour of Caio Ribeiro who was our friend and a famous Brazilian producer who unfortunately died!
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
A musician man! Because I only can imagine me as a musician. The music to me is something spiritual, so important for my life!
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
The guys with my band, Chris Poland from Eclipse Records, Ozzy Osborne and Billy Gibbons!

To conquer the world with Thunder Metal.
