EMQ’s with CROSTPATHS
Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Kent, UK based Nu-Metalcore band, Crostpaths. Huge thanks to Ritchie for taking part and his dry sense of humour!
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
My name is Ritchie, I occasionally play football and our band is so fresh it doesn’t have enough history to mention!
How did you come up with your band name?
On one hand we just mashed up Crossfaith & Stray From the Path because it sounded cool.
On the other, we often say it’s because we “crossed paths” at the right time.
Where are you from and what is the Metal & Rock scene like there?
We’re from Kent, which is home to some fantastic venues. They’re all dotted around the county (Leo’s Red Lion in Gravesend, Tunbridge Wells Forum, The Penny Theatre in Canterbury and The Booking Hall in Dover etc.) but there’s not a consistent “scene” as such.
What is your latest release?
Our new single ‘Rampage’ which dropped on 04/09/20
‘Official Lyric Video’
Who have been your greatest influences?
As a band: Papa Roach, Fever 333, Linkin Park, Skindred and many more.
What first got you into music?
Whatever it was, it was clearly a mistake. Addicted for life with a permanently empty wallet.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Asides from it suiting us perfectly, I’ve been going as a fan since 2007 and my parents attended some of the original Monsters of Rock events in the 80’s.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Paying to hear our music. (Some people still do this apparently. Crazy right?!)
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Brush your teeth twice a day and always stay hydrated.
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
People enjoy this? I hate everything about it.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Shania Twain – “Come On Over”
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
As a 90’s kid, it’s gotta be CD’s!
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
Headlining Wembley Stadium to 100,000 people. It was phenomenal, unforgettable. Then I woke up!!
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Hopefully, it’d be something less detrimental to my health.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Larry David, Hannibal Buress, Ricky Gervais, Seth Rogen, Bill Murray
What’s next for the band?
Promoting new single ‘Rampage’, taken from the “Mutated” EP, which drops 27/11/20.
Fingers crossed for touring in 2021.
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
Jaffa Cakes! Are they a cake or a biscuit?
Cakes! The clue’s in the name! Christ!
Biscuits go soft when stale, Jaffa Cakes go hard (“that’s what she said”).
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
