EMQ’s with AUTUMN TREE
Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Mannheim, Germany based Post Grunge band, Autumn Tree. Huge thanks to them for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Hey, we are Autumn Tree from Mannheim, Germany. We are playing Post Grunge and we founded the Band in fall 2016.
How did you come up with your band name?
Denis (Bopp – Guitarist) got the idea after he saw a special tree during a walk in the autumn. And since that day the name ‘Autumn Tree’ stuck in his head.
But we see the Autumn Tree like a lifeline. Sometimes bad things might happen but after rain there will always be sunshine.
What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
We come from the South West of Germany. We have some live locations here for all kinds of metal and rock music fans. From Hard Rock to Death Metal.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
We released our new single ‘Seducción’ on October 30th. There is also a music video which you can find on YouTube at the following link.
‘Seducción’ (Official Music Video)
Who have been your greatest influences?
Alter Bridge, Volbeat and Metallica are our top three 😊
What first got you into music?
Probably the music our parents listened to when we were kids.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
Alter Bridge, Volbeat, Metallica, Black Stone Cherry, Shinedown…there are too many great bands out there.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
I guess it would be Wacken or Rock am Ring. Legendary Festivals.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
Bikini 😊 and there was one girl who got a tree tattooed, which looks very similar to our first logo.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Thank you for all the support! We will continue our way after this pandemic TOGETHER!
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Very hard question, but one of the musicians who did not commit suicide and I want to live is Dimebag Darrell ! It‘s just a tragedy that he was shot while he was playing guitar…such a shame.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
We love to write new songs, the friendship between us four and playing live shows (even if only 3 people are standing in front of the stage) are probably the best things of our lifestyle. Arrogant musicians are a pain in the ass. And there are a lot of them.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
It is hard to get to the top without appropriate contacts. So, for every newcomer band it‘s a very hard and long way. Also, the work musicians put in their projects should be more appreciated. Not only financially, but at live shows and on streaming portals.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
We’ve got a lot of favourite records like “Guitar Gangsters & Cadillac Blood” by Volbeat or “One Day Remains“ by Alter Bridge…but it’s a kind of mood that depends what you prefer to listen to.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
We played a support show for Motorjesus in fall 2018. That was fun! Playing our music in such a professional environment really hooked us.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
There is not another option! 😉
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
James Hetfield, Mark Tremonti, Michael Poulson, Bear Grylls and Klaus Kinski
What’s next for the band?
We hope to play a lot of shows in 2021. We would like to do our postponed tour through Germany and play all the festivals that were planned for 2020.
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
Jaffa Cakes! Are they a cake or a biscuit?
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Thank you for the great interview! And to all the readers out there: stay safe and heavy!
