EMQ’s with CHRISTOFFEAR
Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Argos, Greece based Melodic Death Metal band, Christoffear. Huge thanks to guitarist, Christopher Boufas, for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
My name is Christopher Boufas , and I am the guitarist and main songwriter of the band. The band was founded by me in 2020 and is, in a way, the continuation of my previous band, Hedon Cries, with whom I released two albums during the ’00s.
How did you come up with your band name?
Christoffear and Christopher are the same person. The goal was to have a name that derives from my name, since I am behind every decision.
What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
I come from Argos, a small historic town in Peloponnese, Greece. There aren’t many metal fans here, but those who do listen to metal music have come together over the years and created a series of music events, like the “Super Jam Festival”. Participants were musicians both amateurs and professionals, between the ages of 14 and 60.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
We just released our debut album, in February of 2021 under the title “We All Have Our Daemons”.
‘We’re Descending’ (Lyric Video)
‘They Are In Your Mind’ (Audio)
Who have been your greatest influences?
Death, At The Gates, Slayer, Dark Tranquillity, Paradise Lost.
What first got you into music?
As long as I can remember myself, I was into metal music. At the age of 15 I bought my first electric guitar and started experimenting. By the age of 17 I begun composing my first complete songs as a self-taught musician.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
I would love to collaborate with Tomas Lindberg (At The Gates singer) for his incredible vocals and with Joe Satriani because he is one of the best guitarists of all times.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
I have to go with Wacken, not only because of the majority of the people attending the festival but also because of all the great bands participating.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
No gifts so far. 😊
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
Thank you for the love and support. And keep in touch because we are here to stay.
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I enjoy being on stage, interacting with the audience, making them feel the freedom I feel when compositing my songs. Music is my passion, but living in Greece means you have to have a regular job to feed your passion.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
I wish people involved in the music industry were more interested in the music as a form of art rather than the money that comes from it.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Death – “Symbolic”
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
Supporting Saturnus in Athens, Greece in 2005, with my previous band.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Freddie Mercury, Cliff Burton, Randy Rhoads, Chuck Schuldiner, Dimebag Darrell. Unfortunately, they are all dead.
What’s next for the band?
The band is already recording tracks for the next album and also rehearsing for live concerts.
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
Jaffa Cakes! Are they a cake or a biscuit?
Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?
Nothing to add. Thank you!
