EMQ’s with BLACKENED BLOOD
Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with Skåne, Sweden based Heavy Metal band, Blackened Blood. Huge thanks to bassist, Daniel Tyche, for taking part.
What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
My name is Daniel Tyche and I play bass in Blackened Blood. Some of us have played together for a long time and we actually started out by playing some Black Sabbath covers. After some time, we started writing our own songs. This constellation of the band came to life in 2016 when our Italian singer Alberto Levrini joined the band. We first set out to do some gigs to satisfy our need to play live. Later we started to record our first album which we released this year.
How did you come up with your band name?
As spilled blood gets old, it starts to darken. That is what Blackened Blood refers to. You could make some references to some metaphors which gives the name some extra depth.
What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?
We are from the most southern part of Sweden in a region called Skåne. We have a lot of talented musicians and bands in this part of Sweden. There are also many good places to go see gigs especially during the summer when we have a lot of festivals. Sweden’s largest metal festival is only a few miles away from our hometown.
What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)
Our debut album “Black Dawn Rising” was released on April 9th, 2021. We are totally blown away by the huge response we got from the metal community. It was really worth all the hard work making the album.

Who have been your greatest influences?
That is a long list but Black Sabbath, Children Of Bodom, Megadeth and Lamb Of God have probably influenced us the most.
What first got you into music?
Well, just the love for Heavy Metal and that in turn led to an urge to start playing it.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician, who would it be?
Hard question, there are so many talented and great musicians out there. But it would be kind of fun to do a collaboration with someone totally wacky to make something absolutely crazy with.
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Would love to play at Sweden Rock Festival because that is simply the worlds best metal festival. We’ve been annual visitors for the last 15 years so it would be a great honour to play there.
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
I got an empty beer bottle once, broke my heart. I really wanted a beer!!
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
We love your support and your enthusiasm. We hope to see you out there on a show soon when this Covid-19 bullshit is over.
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
That would be Dimebag Darrell. I think he would´ve had so much more great music to give. I think the metal scene lost one of its greatest guitarists in his unfortunate death.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I love it when you are on stage, performing your music live and seeing how people respond to it. That’s probably the only time I truly feel alive.
The worst part is waiting. The last hour before the show seems to take forever while the time on stage goes too quick.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
The “but you´ll get exposure” routine. That argument can fuck right off! Pay the band that entertains your customers. You could at least cover their expenses!
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
If I had to choose one I´d probably go In Flames – “Clayman” (2000) This is a truly great album.
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Vinyl has a bigger impact on you. It has that extra feeling, better sound and all-round a better experience. But for everyday use it´s CDs, it´s almost as good.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
We did a gig in a local pub some years ago, I will never forget that night. The show was awesome, the atmosphere electric and the audience was batshit crazy. I hope we´ll experience something like that again.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Hmm…probably something useful!
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
Kanye West, Justin Bieber, Simon Cowell, Donald Trump and a T-rex (for no apparent reason).
(Best Answer Ever – Rick)
What’s next for the band?
Hopefully, we can go out and do some shows again. We are already working on new material for the next album. It will probably not be out anytime soon but that is kind of the only thing you can do now as long as this pandemic still harasses us.
What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?
You find us mostly on Facebook, YouTube and Spotify but also on most platforms where you find music.

Jaffa Cakes! Are they a cake or a biscuit?
I only know one thing: if you drink less than 3 beers it counts as a snack.
