EMQ’s with HANIBAL DEATH MACHINE

Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview with French based Industrial/Doom Metal band Hanibal Death Machine. Huge thanks to vocalist Jean-Luc Loret for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

My name is Jean-Luc I am the singer and founder of the group!

The group was born in 2015 and has two EP’s and one album to its credit and several tours in countries like Russia, Spain and France

How did you come up with your band name?

The name of the group is a nod to Hannibal Lecter!

What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?

We are French! There are many very good Metal bands in France, the most famous of them is of course Gojira. In France we have very big festivals including Hellfest, but a lack of small rooms welcoming metal is to be deplored so it is very difficult for a young group to make themselves known

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)

Our last album is called “A Bout De Souffle” and our last clip is that of ‘I Have A Dream’

Who have been your greatest influences?

In the past I listened to a lot of Gothic and industrial music. Today my favourite groups are Rotting Christ and Gojira but of course the big influences are Rob Zombie and Marilyn Manson, but there are so many others I can’t say them all e.g. Static X, Killing Joke etc …

What first got you into music?

I am a creative person and since my youngest age I have always practiced music and have a vital need to create.

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?

Without any hesitation, Rotting Christ!

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

That is a difficult question! We love to play on stage so much that no preference comes to my mind, all experiences are good to live with and meeting the public is always a privileged moment.

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

One of our fans had the group logo tattooed on a breast and she was proud of it, she removed her bra and showed me this tattooed breast!

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

In these difficult times continue to take great pleasure in music, whether it is by practicing it or just by listening to it but continue to leave this great place that music holds in your heart!

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Wayne Static.

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

In fact, I like everything in music the creation, the recording, playing live, the promo…everything I like, I am certainly privileged!

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

That records sell well as they did in the 80’s and 90’s.

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

Treponem Pal – “Excess & Overdrive”.

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

For collectors: Vinyl!

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

At Hellfest. Great! Great! Great!

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

I dont know, an Actor maybe?

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

My father who died, my mother and my children.

What’s next for the band?

We are currently working on the writing of the next album but a single/videoclip is planned for this summer.

What Social Media/Website links do you use to get your music out to people?

We use Facebook, Bandcamp, VK for Russia and Instagram!
www.facebook.com/hanibaldeathmachine/
www.hanibaldeathmachine.bandcamp.com/
www.instagram.com/hanibaldeathmachine/

Jaffa Cakes? Are they a cake or a biscuit?

I think it is a cake.

Thank you for your time. Is there anything else that you would like to add?

With pleasure my friend! Yes, I really look forward to finding our audience, redoing concerts, currently we cannot know when we can do it again!
