EMQ’s with GENTIHAA

Hi everyone! Welcome to our new EMQ’s interview, with Athens, Greece based Fantasy Themed Symphonic Black Metal band Gentihaa. Huge thanks to guitarist/composer Valgran, for taking part.

What is your name, what do you play, and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?

My name is Valgran and I am the guitarist and the composer of the GENTIHAA. GENTIHAA was formed back in 2018 by me and after a short period we entered in Sound Symmetry Studio in Athens and started the recordings of our first album which is called “Reverse Entropy”.

How did you come up with your band name?

This was a very odd circumstance cause I was goofing around on the net, reading some historic religious stuff and my eyes stuck in a demon ‘s name called Haagenti and I just read it backwards!

What Country/Region are you from and what is the Metal/Rock scene like there?

We are from Greece. The Metal/Rock Scene down here is quiet upcoming with lots of hardcore fans as well.

What is your latest release? (Album, EP, Single, Video)

Our latest release is “Reverse Entropy” which is our debut album. And you can find it in Bandcamp, Spotify, Youtube etc.

Who have been your greatest influences?

We really like Behemoth, Dimmu Borgir, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, Meshuggah and many more.

What first got you into music?

I started playing the guitar when I was in minor age and the first time I realised that this is what I want to do in my life. Music completes me and makes me a happy man!

If you could collaborate with a current band or musician, who would it be?

Behemoth and Dimmu Borgir.

If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?

I would choose Wacken open air or Hellfest cause I think these fests are the biggest with lots of people from all over the world. So, It might be awesome!

What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?

A Voodoo dummy!

If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?

Thank you for all your support and Horns Up!!

If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?

Alexi Laiho from Children of Bodom

What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?

I really enjoy the freedom that music provides me and hate nothing about being a musician!

If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?

I would give more opportunities to new bands to show what they got!

Name one of your all-time favourite albums?

There are plenty of them but I will go with Behemoth – “Demigod”!

What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?

Being a child of the 90’s I’ll go for CD’s! I remember that CD’s were a big revolution back then.

What’s the best gig that you have played to date?

Our biggest gigs so far were a mini Greek tour with Dimmu Borgir last year.

If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?

Can’t imagine doing anything else!

Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?

I would definitely invite Nergal, Shagrath, Michael Amott, Fredrik Thordendal and Roy Khan.

What’s next for the band?

We are in the middle of recordings of our second album and we are working really hard to deliver very aggressive and exceptional stuff to our fans!
