Hi everyone. Please welcome to our brand new interview feature page EMQ’s (Ever Metal Questions). Every band featured here will be asked the same questions and we start with Tampa Bay, Florida Metal band Shattered.
What is your name, what do you play and can you tell us a little bit about the history of the band?
Hello, My name is Tony Pettry and I’m one of the founders of Shattered in which I play guitar. Shattered was formed in 2014 and we are a metal band. We are sponsored by Sinister Guitar Picks and Fireball Whiskey. Shattered is also working with From The Depths Entertainment Record Label and Rogue PR out of England.
How did you come up with your band name?
I was just throwing names around and Shattered stuck. We did a search and it was available so I got a copyright on it.
What country are you from and what is the metal scene like there?
Shattered is from Tampa Bay , Florida in the good ole USA. The metal scene here is booming. I mean it is the Death Metal Capital Of The World.
What is your latest release (Album, EP, Single, Video)?
Our latest EP is called “Pride” which was released in 2018.
Who have been your greatest influences?
My greatest influence is King Diamond with his unique style and awesome presence on stage.
What first got you into music?
My brother gave me the Motley Crue – Shout At The Devil cassette tape and I was hooked from that point on.
If you could collaborate with a current band or musician who would it be?
King Diamond!
If you could play any festival in the world, which would you choose and why?
Wacken Metalfest
What’s the weirdest gift you have ever received from a fan?
I was on stage playing and a fan walked up and set a bag down with shirts, a castle fountain and a little joint in it for my birthday.
If you had one message for your fans, what would it be?
I would just like to say thank you for the support over the years. It’s been a rollercoaster ride for sure.
If you could bring one rock star back from the dead, who would it be?
Oderus Arungus (Dave Brockie)! Probably spelled it wrong but all Gwar fans know who I’m talking about.
What do you enjoy the most about being a musician? And what do you hate?
I enjoy getting on stage performing and making people happy. I hate the drama people start all the time in the music industry.
If you could change one thing about the music industry, what would it be?
I would like to get Heavy Metal more attention like on music award shows etc.
Name one of your all-time favourite albums?
Metallica – And Justice For All
What’s best? Vinyl, Cassettes, CD’s or Downloads?
Downloads.
What’s the best gig that you have played to date?
That would be at The Ritz opening for Nile and Overkill.
If you weren’t a musician, what else would you be doing?
Drag Racing, and writing movie scripts.
Which five people would you invite to a dinner party?
King Diamond, Glenn Danzig, Gene Simmons, Henry Rollins, and Ozzy Osbourne
What’s next for the band?
Shattered is working on our new EP named “Skinwalker” to be released in 2019 and we will go on tour.
